Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analysis the effects of education program for early hemodialysis patients on knowledge, self-care practice and physiologic index (Kalium, Phosphate, Ideal weight gain).
Method: The reserch design was non-equivalent control group pre-post test with repeated measure design. This experiment was conducted from January 2, 2006 to March 4, 2006. Experimental subjects are 43 hemodialysis patients with less than 1 years in C university hospital, G city. 22 subjects in the control group received no intervention and 21 subjects in the experimental group received an education program.
Result: There was significant increases on knowledge and self-care practice. physiologic index in the experimental group compared to controls.
Conclusion: According to the above results, this education program for the early hemodialysis patients was increased the knowledge about hemodialysis, self-care and decreased physiologic index. Therefore this education program will be independent and very effective nursing intervention which can be used in early hemodialysis patients.
